“This is going to be the biggest and best jobs Summit we’ve ever had,” said Baucus, Montana’s senior U.S. Senator. “Our goal is to work on ways to boost Montana’s economy and create more good, high-paying jobs.”

Baucus is using his position as chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee to line up a veritable who’s-who of big names to headline the Summit, including Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, Microsoft Founder Bill Gates (live via satellite), CEOs from Fortune 500 companies, and ambassadors from foreign countries. Boosting Montana’s Economy

“We are fortunate to have the country’s top experts work together with us on ways we can boost Montana’s economy, draw more businesses to our state, and create more good-paying jobs,” Baucus said.

Baucus said he picked the Mining City to hold the fourth statewide economic development conference because Butte is centrally located and the town has a burgeoning high tech industry. Montana Tech of The University of Montana will host the event on its campus.

Baucus organized the first-ever Montana Economic Development Summit in Great Falls in 2000. He held another summit the following year in Great Falls and again in Billings in 2003. Each Summit attracted more than 1,000 people, including business leaders from across the state and nation.

Creating More Good Paying Jobs

This year’s theme is “innovation” and will explore ways to foster the entrepreneurial spirit in Montana and how Montanans can better market their products and ideas. Keynote speeches will be coupled with smaller breakout sessions to give participants and hands-on opportunity to learn about economic development issues, including:

· Financing your business

· Economic development tools

· Workforce training and education

· Innovation and entrepreneurship

· Energy in the new economy

· Selling Montana products overseas

· Growing Montana’s bioscience industry

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, U.S. Sen. Jon Tester and Rep. Dennis Rehberg have been invited to participate in the event as well.

The Summit is free and open to the public, however people are asked to register in advance at http://www.BoostMontana.org
