Prospera to Discontinue Hosting SBDC; Focuses on Advanced Business Programs

Prospera Business Network (formerly Gallatin Development Corporation) announced today that the organization will not submit a proposal in response to a recently released Montana Department of Commerce RFP (request for proposal) to continue hosting the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Bozeman, Montana after March 31, 2007.

“After careful and diligent examination of Prospera’s short and long-term goals, it became clear that the SBDC no longer fits with our organization’s strategic focus,” stated Robert Gibson, Prospera board president. “The organization has a responsibility to our community, and to our members, to provide the resources growing businesses need most,” Gibson continued.

“In line with the organization’s vision, Prospera is shifting its resources to clearly focus on serving the advanced needs of existing and expanding businesses in the area,” added Kitch Walker, Prospera board member and a past president. Prospera is responding to advanced business needs that area business leaders have identified such as: executive leadership training and development; labor recruitment; government contracting; increased access to capital for business expansion; and resources that support national and international business opportunities.

Once a new host organization is identified by the Montana Department of Commerce, Prospera will help to transition the SBDC program to its new home. “The SBDC is a great program that helps start-ups work on their business plans and financials. We plan to continue promoting and referring clients to the new SBDC host,” said Bob Hietala, Chief Executive Officer of Prospera Business Network.
