Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) receives grant for its Raise Your Voice program.

The Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) is pleased to announce that it has received a new $14,273 grant for its Raise Your Voice program. The grant is from a private Ohio-based family foundation. The award will help MTCC fund two state-wide Raise Your Voice events for college and university student government leaders.

MTCC’s Raise Your Voice program assists student leaders from Montana’s public, private, and tribal colleges and universities to meet the needs of each campus’ student body.

Kasandra Lundquist, an AmeriCorps VISTA member working with MTCC, wrote the successful proposal. “I was thrilled to learn that this critical program will receive this much needed boost,” said Lundquist.

This award will help support the Day at the Statehouse on February 12, 2007— an event convening student leaders from across the state to lobby the Montana Legislature on issues important to higher education and student life. The new award will also support the 2007 Student Training Institute—a conference of students, by students, and for students, who share best student government practices.

“Student voice is important. Trained and organized student government is important. This award is a testament to that importance. We are very proud of Kasandra,” said Dean McGovern, MTCC’s executive director.

The Montana Campus Compact is a statewide non-profit based in Missoula, MT and is a consortium of nineteen colleges and universities all committed to renewing the public purposes of higher education by promoting civic engagement in communities across Montana.
