Montana educators focus on math, reading

Reading and mathematics took top billing in the thick catalog of course offerings, and many of the educators at the conference were looking for new teaching strategies in those subjects.
The interest is high because those subjects are part of the federal No Child Left Behind Act’s accountability standards. Many schools, especially those in rural areas, are having a difficult time meeting the tough federal Adequate Yearly Progress standards on high-stakes tests.
