New Website Links Montana Students to State College Access Resources

A new website launched by the Montana Guaranteed Student Loan Program (MGSLP) http://www.mgslp.org , and the nation’s student loan guaranty agencies will provide a wealth of resources to make college and career planning easier.

http://www.Going2college.org features comprehensive information about paying for college, planning for postsecondary education, and career planning. Details about the specific programs and services in Montana are provided by MGSLP and the U.S. Department of Education. Students and parents can learn where to get help in filling out a FAFSA, types of federal and state scholarships and grants available, and which organizations and schools offer early awareness and intervention programs for students. Assistance provided to low-income, and first-generation
college students through programs including Upward Bound, Talent Search, GEAR UP and Project Grad.

Going2college.org was developed as part of the College Access Initiative, and formalizes a foundational role of guaranty agencies in promoting access to postsecondary education. As part of their public service mission, guaranty agencies provide an extensive range of services and programs that increase awareness of the importance of higher education, the opportunities available, and the financial support offered. MGSLP, a division in the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education is the designated guarantor of Federal Family Education Loans in Montana and additionally guarantees loans on a regional and national level. Located in Helena, Montana, the agency also administers a variety of state, federal, and private grant and scholarship programs.
