LCSC President: ‘If people can work, they don’t go to school as much’

Rather than letting another company recruit away employees in the competitive North Idaho market, Dr. Dene K. Thomas, president of Lewis-Clark State College-Coeur d’Alene, has another way businesses can remain competitive.

"Some of you have lost employees who got a signing bonus from someone else," she told the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce over lunch at Templin’s Hotel Tuesday. "Some of you might be stealing employees with signing bonuses."

In many industries it’s a sellers’ market — and valuable workers can often have their pick of jobs.
