Govt May Make It Compulsory For Entrepreneurs To Have Own Website

The Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development is studying the possibility of making it compulsory for entrepreneurs wanting to apply loans from SME Bank to have their own website.

Its minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the move is aimed at making it easier for entrepreneurs to promote, advertise and market their products wider.

"If they use ICT in business, it will surely help to increase the marketing of their products and sales. This way, they can pay back their loans," he told Bernama, here.

Mohamed Khaled, who is leading a Malaysian trade mission to West Asia to promote Malaysian halal products, said this after officiating the Malaysian Halal Products For The World pavilion, in conjunction with the Dubai International Halal Exhibition 2006 (DIHAS 2006).

For entrepreneurs to penetrate international market, he said they should be IT savvy.
