10,000 new phone lines for Micron. Company mum, but its PUC request said lines are for ‘expansion, growth’

Micron Technology Inc. will get 10,000 new phone numbers in Boise it says will be used for "expansion and growth of new services," according to a document filed with state regulators.

Micron isn’t talking, but the phone numbers could signal that Idaho’s No. 1 private employer is expanding in Boise. Micron has said for about two years that it wants to build a new plant, called a fab, to make memory chips on 12-inch silicon wafers, rather than on the 8-inch wafers it uses now. Micron already has similar plants in Lehi, Utah, and Manassas, Va., and has said it is considering Boise for the fab.
