Rocker Huey Lewis shares industry knowledge with UM business students

Musicians may be the axis around which the entertainment business revolves, but managers are the ones who keep everything spinning, rocker Huey Lewis told a rapt class of University of Montana business students Tuesday afternoon.

The class is part of the School of Business Administration’s http://www.business.umt.edu/ entertainment industry program, which prepares students for careers in the industry by bringing in renowned managers, executives and experts in the field.

The class got a real treat when Lewis, who splits his time between San Francisco and the Bitterroot Valley, spent more than an hour discussing his decades of experience in the music and film business and answering students’ questions.

He agreed to visit the class because it lays bare the fundamentals of an industry that tends to be rather mysterious, Lewis said.
