Ligocyte receives $1.3 million research grant

Bozeman-based LigoCyte Pharmaceuticals, Inc. http://www.ligocyte.com/ learned Friday that it had received a $1.3 million federal research grant.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant will help Ligocyte continue its work on "novel drugs to fight chronic inflammatory disorders and prevent respiratory and gastrointestinal infections," according to a press release from Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont.

"LigoCyte’s drugs are unique in that they work by altering the disease process, rather than just simply reducing the disease symptoms," according to the release.

The grant endorses Ligocyte’s ongoing research and development in this area, Donald P. Beeman, LigoCyte’s CEO, said.
