Montana one of three states receiving early childhood grants

Montana is one of three states that will receive assistance to support gubernatorial leadership for building early childhood systems.

New Jersey and South Carolina are the others receiving $50,000 each from the National Governors Association Center for Best practices to develop these comprehensive, coordinated systems for children birth to age five.

According to a recent report from the center early childhood is a critical time for development of the foundational skills and competencies children will need for success in school and life, and that too often children who enter kindergarten without these skills start and stay behind.
