Reminder – Deadline for SBIR Conference "Scholarship" Applications Approaching

The 2006 "SWIFT Tour" (SBIR/STTR, Where Innovation Focuses Technology) conference in Bozeman, Sept. 11 – 13 http://sbir.mt.gov/SWIFTTour.asp , will be your only chance to attend a major SBIR conference in Montana for the foreseeable future. We are anticipating over 200 attendees from throughout the region and nation, coming to hear from a dozen federal SBIR/STTR Program Managers, along with Prime Contractors looking to work with small innovative companies, and highly knowledgeable speakers on key business and IP topics.

Montana companies have won over $76 million in SBIR/STTR awards, and are currently winning new awards at a rate approaching $10 million per year. SBIR/STTR awards are by far the best way to fund start-up technology companies, as funds do not need to be repaid, and no equity is given up, unlike Venture Capital investment, which is extremely rare in Montana.

What’s more, several outstanding SBIR Assistance Programs in Montana http://www.techlinkcenter.org/cgi-bin/techlink/sbir_montana.html help to make Montana companies among the most successful in the nation in this highly competitive program.

Montana residents are eligible to apply for scholarships that can offset registration fees, and even travel expenses to attend this important conference. The deadline for applying for these scholarships is this coming Friday, August 18. These scholarships are made possible by a generous grant from the Montana NSF EPSCoR Program, which also has provided funds to help maintain very low registration fees for this conference.

Details on these scholarships are available at http://sbir.mt.gov/Includes/ScholarshipCritera.pdf.
