Manufacturers and Technology Companies Unite To Diversify The Wyoming Economy

Wyoming’s Technology Organization Members are Now the #3 Contributor To the Wyoming Economy

The Wyoming Technology Organization (WTO) today announces from the Manufacturing-Works Awards Conference in Sheridan, Wyoming the integration of the Association of Wyoming Manufacturers into the WTO. The technology organization is launching the WTO Manufacturing Network to represent the interests of manufacturers across Wyoming. Combined, the technology and manufacturing sectors represent the State’s third largest industry in terms of gross state product.

"There is a tremendous amount of strength in numbers," said Bill Britz, president of the former manufacturer’s association. "The manufacturers of this state face very similar challenges to those confronted by technology companies. The WTO Manufacturing Network will help solve some of these challenges," he continued.

The same management, marketing and sales, process, and strategic growth issues challenge the manufacturers in Wyoming as they do the technology companies. The WTO provides a forum for these companies to network with one another for advice, support and mentorship.

The organization will provide a voice for manufacturing and technology companies as well as professionals in these industries. Now, with over 300 active members participating in the organization the WTO will be able to impact change and aid in the diversification of the Wyoming economic base.

"The Wyoming economy depends far too heavily on the minerals and energy industry. In order to avoid the boom and bust cycle of previous years, more effort needs to be focused on these emerging industries in our state," said Shawn Mills, Executive Director of the WTO.

The new combined organization plans to begin supporting and campaigning for issues that will help grow the manufacturing and technology companies within Wyoming by offering online seminars, podcasts, and web-conferences focusing on the issues of sales and marketing, strategy, and hiring practices. The organization will also launch a job center focused on placing employees in Wyoming’s tech and manufacturing companies in the next month.
