Bringing Light Rail Down Under. Creating an integrated transport network
I acknowledge the Gadigal people, of the Eora nation, the traditional custodians of our land.
Looking back to the ’20s and ’30s, I wonder what Sydney would be today if we hadn’t had the nation builders, the big thinkers and the visionaries who gave us the big engineering infrastructure projects such as the Bridge, the City and metropolitan rail system, and our water, sewerage and drainage systems.
What would Sydney be like today if governments of that time had just fiddled with the horse drawn and steam powered time tables, and dug a deeper tank stream?
Our forefathers thought big and built in that extra capacity for growth. Current governments, with few exceptions, paper over the cracks!
