SKC to be Awarded Over $25,000 for Student Grants

Student Assistance Foundation (SAF), a nonprofit Montana organization, will award Salish Kootenai College (SKC) a grant for $25,349 at a presentation on Friday, August 4, in Pablo. The presentation will take place during the Salish Kootenai College Student Services Conference on the SKC campus. Financial Aid Director Jeannie Burland will be present to accept the award from Libby Siebens, SAF community outreach manager.

The SKC award is part of a $1.1 million Acce$$ grant package provided by SAF to Montana’s colleges and universities this year. Acce$$ (pronounced "access") grants are awarded each year by SAF to Montana’s post-secondary financial aid offices. Financial aid officers use the grants to help students with unmet financial needs continue their education. Award amounts vary by individual need and are determined by the financial aid offices. The funds are educational grants and are gifted to students. They do not require repayment.

Since its inception in 1999, SAF has awarded $59,284 in Acce$$ grants to SKC and over $3.3 million to Montana’s colleges and universities.

Student Assistance Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Montana corporation that provides students with knowledge and tools to finance and pursue their post-secondary education. Funds generated by SAF are returned to Montanans in the form of education grants and public benefit programs. For more information, visit the SAF Web site at http://www.safmt.org.
