State-by-State Venture Capital Investments Q2 2006

He are state-by-state venture capital distributions for the second quarter of 2006, with a comparison to the first quarter, courtest of the PricewaterhouseCoopers, National Venture Capital Association, Thompson Financial Money Tree.

California, of course, attracted the lion’s share (and a few other animals, too) of the funding, cornnering nearly $3 billion of the $6.3 billion invested in the quarter, getting ever closer to the point that it gets more than all the other states combined. This quarter it was 46%. Massachusettes was a distant second with 10.5%.

The rest of the top ten include Texas and Maryland, each with 5.3%, Washington 4.9%, Pennsylvania and New Jersey each with 3.9%, New York 3.6%, North Carolina 2.4% and Illinois with 2%.
