Butte call center set to close. SatoTravel laying off about half the center’s 54 employees.

SatoTravel announced Wednesday it is closing a call center here and laying off about half the center’s 54 employees.

The company, in Butte since 2003, provides government and military travel services.

About half its Butte agents will be allowed to keep their jobs and work from home, said Mary Ann Norman, local human resources director.

SatoTravel is a division of TQ3 Navigant of Denver, which chose to close the center in part because the lease on its Butte office building is expiring, Norman said.
