Trade missions expected to bring business back to Montana. Could your company benefit?

Some assertive companies in Montana that are ready to grow outside the United States are heading to Tianjin, China, and Seoul, South Korea, in August. They are going on a foreign trade mission organized by the Montana World Trade Center http://www.mwtc.org in conjunction with the U.S. Commercial Services of the Department of Commerce and led by U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg.

“We’re excited about China and South Korea,” said Megan Harrington of MWTC, a nonprofit organization based at the University of Montana in Missoula that helps businesses establish or strengthen their international commercial capabilities.

Eight companies went on a previous trade mission to Europe and the results were “fantastic.” Over the next three years, about $20 million in sales are expected as a result of the trip, Harrington said.

Expenses will be $6,000 to $7,000 for each participant in the trip to Asia. What the Montana business person hoping to export will get is a chance to talk business with prospective partners in pre-arranged meetings as well as help in navigating the rules of international commerce.
