Too many state students can’t compete for jobs

As Michigan struggles to adjust our 20th-century economy to a 21st-century world, our strategy must include a massive overhaul of our educational system.

The sad truth is that Michigan’s education system today does not serve our state’s children well. Neither does it serve our state’s employers well.

Too many of our young people are leaving school unable to compete for 21st-century jobs. And our employers are not being provided with the trained and trainable work force that is a must if we are to compete successfully in a world economy.
