Qwest, Microsoft join forces on Web services. Denver telco to offer Windows Live on its high-speed lines

Qwest Communications will be the first U.S. telecommunications company to offer Microsoft’s Windows Live Web services, including its new suite of security software, to high-speed Internet customers.

The Denver-based telco and Microsoft, which have had a joint- branding agreement within Qwest’s 14-state region for the past five years, say the services will launch sometime later this year. Among the changes Qwest’s 1.7 million broadband subscribers will notice is the ability to customize their home page and software that automatically backs up computer files.
