Road to increased trade – Montana to Texas

There’s an "interstate" highway in Texas, I-27, that runs north from Lubbock to Amarillo. It’s not really "inter" state; once it comes to Amarillo it just stops.

With the Great Plains International Trade Corridor, that highway might actually become inter-state.

The planned development of the GPITC corridor includes Ports-to-Plains, Heartland Expressway and the Theodore Roosevelt Expressway, among other highways. It runs from the Mexico border in Laredo, Texas, up to Canada at the Montana border.

The Heartland Expressway joins Ports-to-Plains in Colorado and continues through Nebraska to Rapid City, S.D.
Ports-to-Plains vice presidents Joe Kiely and Duffy Hinkle, Panhandle Area Development District director Jerrod Haberman and Director of Economic Development for Kimball Deborah Crago were in Scottsbluff on Monday as part of a larger corridor tour.
