Montana Tech to be Awarded over $50,000 for Student Grants

(HELENA) Student Assistance Foundation (SAF), a nonprofit Montana organization, will award Montana Tech of The University of Montana (Montana Tech) a grant for $52,758 at an awards ceremony on Monday, May 15, in Butte. The ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Alumni Lounge in the Mill Building on the Montana Tech campus. Chancellor Frank Gilmore will accept the award from Kelly Chapman, SAF executive vice president of foundation activities.

The Montana Tech award is part of a $1.1 million Acce$$ grant package provided by SAF to Montana’s colleges and universities this year. Acce$$ (pronounced "access") grants are awarded each year by SAF to Montana’s post-secondary financial aid offices. Financial aid officers use the grants to help students with unmet financial needs continue their education. Award amounts vary by individual need and are determined by the financial aid offices. The funds are educational grants and are gifted to students. They do not require repayment.

Since its inception in 1999, SAF has awarded $167,758 in Acce$$ grants to Montana Tech and over $3.3 million to Montana’s colleges and universities.
