Inside Entrepreneurship: Do research before letting venture capitalists aboard

Q: I have a pretty successful Web-oriented service company. We’ve grown fast and make good money. Now I face the decision of self-funding continued growth or going prime time with venture funding. I’ve been approached by would-be investors because of my technical background and our corporate client list. I’m worried about losing everything I’ve built up trying to meet the big growth expectations of investors. What do you think? How can I protect myself?
