Avmax gears up for takeoff in Great Falls

Avmax is nearly up and running at the Great Falls International Airport.

The Calgary-based aircraft maintenance company is stepping up its hiring and training to prepare for a start of operations. It expects to triple its number of maintenance workers in Great Falls to 15 within a few weeks.

Avmax hopes soon to receive approval to repair aircraft from the Federal Aviation Administration, said Gary Graham, Avmax’s vice president of corporate development. It could start servicing a few regional jets by the end of the month.

Renovation of a 25,000-square-foot World War II-vintage hangar for Avmax will be virtually completed with installation of a fire suppression system.
