Wyoming joins states vying for FutureGen plant

Wyoming has submitted its application to land a $1 billion project to build the world’s first zero-emissions coal-fired power plant.

"Wyoming makes a very compelling case for siting the FutureGen project here," Gov. Dave Freudenthal, who submitted the application this week on behalf of the state, said in a statement Wednesday.

"We have been at the forefront of energy production for many years, and the state has several of the physical characteristics necessary to make this work. Competition will be heated, but I believe we make a strong argument."
