Montana Gov. Schweitzer says 2-year colleges key to economic success
Two-year schools such as Montana State University-Billings’ College of Technology are key to rural Montana’s economic development and security, Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer said Tuesday on the MSU-Billings campus.
Healthcare already is Montana’s biggest industry, grossing about $3.2 billion compared to agriculture’s $2 billion, Gov. Schweitzer said, and energy is third with potential to grow hugely with the addition of wind, biofuels and coalbed methane. In the case of both healthcare and energy, the governor said at a listening session on the MSU-Billings campus, Billings and its two-year College of technology are poised to play a leading role in this growth.
