MSU to be Awarded over $281,000 for Student Grants

(HELENA) Student Assistance Foundation (SAF), a nonprofit Montana organization, will award Montana State University (MSU) a grant for $281,806 at an awards ceremony on Thursday, May 4, in Bozeman. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. in the president’s office, 211 Montana Hall, on the MSU campus. President Geoff Gamble will accept the award from Kelly Chapman, SAF executive vice president of foundation activities.

The MSU award is part of a $1.1 million Acce$$ grant package provided by SAF to Montana’s colleges and universities this year. Acce$$ (pronounced “access”) grants are awarded each year by SAF to Montana’s post-secondary financial aid offices. Financial aid officers use the grants to help students with unmet financial needs continue their education. Award amounts vary by individual need and are determined by the financial aid offices. The funds are educational grants and are gifted to students. They do not require repayment.

Since its inception in 1999, SAF has awarded $902,911 in Acce$$ grants to MSU and over $3.3 million to Montana’s colleges and universities.

Student Assistance Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Montana corporation that provides students with knowledge and tools to finance and pursue their post-secondary education. Funds generated by SAF are returned to Montanans in the form of education grants and public benefit programs. For more information, visit the SAF Web site at http://www.safmt.org.
