Inside Entrepreneurship: Artists should consider copyright registration

Q: A friend told me that I should get a copyright on all of my watercolors and paintings before selling them to the public. Is this necessary? Also, what happens to my ability to get copyright protection if I post pictures of my art on the Web? Artists are business people, too!
