Montana Superintendent of Public Instruction Linda McCulloch Joins Montana Meth Project Advisory Council

State Education Leader to Bolster Project’s Meth Education Programs

The Montana Meth Project http://www.montanameth.org today announced the appointment of Linda McCulloch, Montana State Superintendent of Public Instruction, to its advisory council. McCulloch’s participation will further strengthen the Project’s outreach programs in schools throughout the state.

"Prevention messaging in schools is an essential component of the Montana Meth Project’s community action program," said Peg Shea, Executive Director, Montana Meth Project. "Linda is a determined advocate for children in this state and plays a critical role in Montana’s public education system-she will be a major asset to the Project and our efforts to teach kids about the dangers of Meth."

McCulloch, responsible for general supervision of K-12 public schools, is serving her second term in her current position. As a teacher and former legislator, she is committed to ensuring quality education in Montana. Prior, McCulloch served three terms in the Montana House of Representatives.

"Meth use is one of the biggest risks facing our kids today," McCulloch said. "The Montana Meth Project is making a tremendous impact in raising awareness and empowering kids to make informed decisions about Meth. It is a remarkable program and I am honored to be a part of the campaign."

McCulloch joins as the eleventh member of the Montana Meth Project’s Advisory Council, which guides the activities and direction of the organization. Other members of the Project’s Advisory Council include:

— Mike McGrath, Attorney General, State of Montana, Helena

— Dr. Dan Nauts, Physician, Addiction Specialist, Great Falls

— Major General Gene Prendergast, former Montana Adjutant General, Helena

— Theresa Racicot, former First Lady, State of Montana, Helena

— Judge Mike Salvagni, District Court Judge, Bozeman

— Peg Shea, Executive Director, Montana Meth Project, Missoula

— Anna Sorrell, Governor’s Office, Family Policy Advisor, Helena

— Carl Venne, Crow Tribal Chairman, Hardin
