Former Missoula Mayor Mike Kadas is more hopeful than ever that Missoula Public Power, Inc. will be able to purchase NorthWestern Energy, and he thinks that a sale will come sooner rather than later.

In Missoula this week to update city officials about the efforts of a consortium of five Montana cities to purchase NorthWestern, Kadas said he’s been keeping track of the issue while living in Nicaragua with his wife and children since he left office in January. Kadas still serves on the MPPI board.

Kadas, who chairs the MPPI board, uses the Internet to stay in touch, following news reports and doing a lot of e-mailing. There also are a number of conference calls which Kadas said “run up a phone bill, but it’s OK.”
