When it rains, it pours. 2 financing rounds announced by Northwest Venture Associates

I had not heard much from Northwest Venture Associates http://www.nwva.com/ for a few months. So I was a little surprised this week to see the venture capital firm, with offices in Spokane and Seattle, lead two financing rounds in Pacific Northwest companies.

On Thursday, NWVA led a $6 million financing in Seattle’s Vigilos — an event I covered in this post http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/venture/archives/102279.asp .

NWVA, along with Intel Capital, also just led the $1.5 million http://www.ipfabrics.com/news/press_releases/2006_03_29.php financing in Beaverton, Ore.-based IP Fabrics.

Both were inside rounds — meaning no new investors participated. And both were for amounts less than the companies previously raised. That’s usually not a good sign.
