Montana Film council chair rebuffs criticism

Movie producer Patrick Markey, responding to criticism that he’s filming a movie in Canada, said shooting in Winnipeg saved the production $500,000.
‘‘As much as I love Montana, I don’t have the ability to take a movie to Montana when the numbers are so substantial,’’ Markey said Tuesday.
He said the movie has a $4 million budget.
Markey said Winnipeg provides an example of what the Montana Film Office should be.
