Summit proposed to improve Montana government relationships

Call it Civics 101 for adults.

Looking to improve strained relations, leaders from each branch of state government agreed Wednesday to a summit, possibly as early as this summer, to help them better understand each other.

The summit would spell out the foundations of government and the roles of the legislative, executive and judiciary branches, as well as elements of the Montana and federal constitutions. All state lawmakers, judges and executive branch employees would be invited to attend, and the sessions could be taught by senior university professors.
