Missoula, Montana – This is the best the Big Sky state has to offer — an outside enthusiast’s dream

There are still places left in America where great fish rise high over moonlit rivers, where Chinook winds slice through dark forests of beech and fir, and wild ducks float on shimmering waters. Craggy, beautiful places, vast and untouched — the domain of cougar, bear, and wolf. Settings of solitude only lightly peppered with people.

Such a place is Western Montana. Such a city is Missoula.

"Pretty Big Mountain Lion Spotted Near University" isn’t a headline that appeared here during the Homestead Act era. No, it ran with a story in The Missoulian this past June.
