The Missoula Community Brew, sponsored by Big Sky Brewing (BSBC) and the Zoo City Zymurgists homebrew club pick brew to benefit Community Focused Disaster Response (CFDR)

The Missoula Community Brew is sponsored by Big Sky Brewing http://www.bigskybrew.com/ (BSBC) and the Zoo City Zymurgists http://www.montanahomebrewers.org/ homebrew club. The brewery hosted a homebrew contest, and the winning beer, a Dunkel Weizen, created by Chad Newman was chosen as the winner. As the winner, Chad got to volunteer his labor and help BSBC brew the beer in a 600 gallon batch. The profits from the sale of the beer will be divided between the club, and a non-profit charity.

The charity chosen is the Community Focused Disaster Response (CFDR) http://www.cfdrhome.com/ , an organization that responded to a small village (Komari) destroyed by the Indian Ocean Tsunami in Sri Lanka. Volunteers from Missoula have been working on this project since the Tsunami. Their goal is to help rebuild Komari back to normal by providing water, sanitation, and education to the village. More information about the organization can be found at http://www.cfdrhome.com.

The Zoo City Zymurgists homebrew club has welcomed home brewers and wine makers in and around Missoula, Montana since 1982. Their spokesperson John Masterson said: “The Community Brew represents an opportunity to help people in need and raise the visibility of our club. Big Sky Brewing has long demonstrated their commitment to charitable causes, and we appreciate the opportunity to be involved. Plus, they make darn good beer.”

The beer will be available to the public in the Big Sky Brewing tasting room starting on March 10.
