Inside the world of Wikipedians, there’s drama, politics and love

They go by names like "Funky Monkey" and "Eloquence." They might be tenured professors, insomniacs, "underutilized cubicle workers" — or bored teenagers, according to their website. Meet the "Wikipedians." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedians

From computers around the globe, they’re writing and editing the Internet’s most popular reference site, Wikipedia. Behind their esoteric entries on everything from dry cleaning to radio transmissions, there is online political drama, a behavioral code, a common language and — yes, even love. They call it "WikiLove."

Anyone can join the masses of up to 850,000 registered users, but being a Wikipedian implies greater devotion, like that of the 2,000 volunteer users who each post 100 edits a month on the English version.
