Supplying the demand: Idaho ranks low in pay, but high in supply of qualified teachers

Idaho is demanding more from teachers while paying less than surrounding states.

According to an annual report from the Idaho Department of Education, schools of education such as the College of Southern Idaho’s joint program with Idaho State University, are preparing enough teachers to meet future demand. According to the report, local school districts reported that 9,414 applications were received during the 2004-2005 school year to fill 2,414 vacancies.
