Playing games in school. Using videos helps students love to learn their lessons

It used to take Ariana Gutierrez 11 minutes to run a mile. Now, the 15-year-old says she can do it in seven minutes thanks to the Dance Dance Revolution video game in her physical education class.

"I think it’s pretty awesome," said the eighth-grader at Delano Middle School in the San Joaquin Valley. "It’s a better way to work out. PE used to be boring, but I really enjoy it now."

n her survey of 524 fifth- through eighth-graders in Michigan and California, Heeter found that only 7 percent of girls and 3 percent of boys do not play video games on a regular basis.
