More Ways to Get Funded Than Most Entrepreneurs Know

For all the attention it gets from both media and entrepreneurs, you’d think that venture capital was the dominant form of financing for entrepreneurial ventures. But in fact, nothing could be farther from the truth.

According to the Global Entrepreneurship Report, less than 1/10th of one percent of entrepreneurs start their businesses with funding from formal investors, i.e., angel investors and venture capitalists. An overwhelming 88 percent of America’s 500 fastest growing private companies never received financing from business angels at any point.
