Thumbnail sketches of revenue picture in neighboring states

Yes, Montana’s state budget picture is looking good. But we’re not alone in that regard. Here’s a quick look at the status of budgets in Montana’s next-door neighbors: IDAHO Major state revenue sources: Sales tax, income tax.
Idaho had projected a 6.5 percent growth in its revenues this year, but current data show that the money’s coming in faster, at a growth rate of 8 percent more than fiscal 2005.
That’s on top of a 12.5 percent increase the previous year.
