DECA helps Wyoming students perpare for state competition

Erik Bergquist has good business sense. He can think on his feet and solve problems quickly. He speaks to clients at Personal Frontiers, the substance abuse treatment center where he works, with confidence and ease.

He credits these attributes to his experience in DECA, an extension of the Campbell County High School business, marketing and management program.

Bergquist is one of several community members who recently worked with the high school DECA team to help them hone their skills and prepare for the state competition this weekend in Cheyenne.

"DECA is a precursor to how to expand the business world and how to be able to survive in the business world," he said. "(Helping these kids) is like watching a flower bloom. All of a sudden it starts clicking for them."
