GlaxoSmithKline to close former Corixa Seattle office

British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline, which purchased Corixa Corp. last summer, told it’s Hamilton employees Thursday it intended to close the former Corixa headquarters in Seattle.

Glaxo took over Corixa facilities in Seattle, San Francisco and Hamilton, where Corixa planned a significant expansion.

Multiple employees confirmed they were told by Glaxo officials of the closure, but could not comment further on the move or how it would impact the Hamilton facility.

A press release from GSK corporate officials is expected next week, employees said.
