MSU College of Business dean, Rich Semenik honored as Montana Ambassadors’ Educator of the Year, Don Cape Named Entrepreneur of the Year

Rich Semenik, dean of the Montana State University College of Business http://www.montana.edu/cob , has been selected as Educator of the Year by the Montana Ambassadors http://montanaambassadors.com/.

Semenik shares the award with University of Montana President George Dennison http://www.cas.umt.edu/nwa2000/prez.htm . They will receive their awards from Gov. Brian Schweitzer at the Montana Ambassadors’ annual meeting, Feb. 16 at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.

Other Montana Ambassador winners include: Ambassador of the Year, Ken Richardson of Missoula; Entrepreneur of the Year, Don Cape of Bozeman; Business of the Year, Semitool, of Kalispell; and Ambassador Plenipotentiary, Larry Gianchetta of Missoula.

John O’Donnell, executive director of Tech Ranch, nominated Semenik for the award.

"Dean Semenik has been an instrumental force in developing Montana’s entrepreneurial landscape through his role as executive director of the Center for Entrepreneurship for the New West and visionary for the formation of the Alderson Program for Entrepreneurship," O’Donnell said.

Semenik, who has been dean of the MSU College of Business since 2000, has published more than 50 articles and 11 books on marketing and advertising topics. His most recent co-authored book, "Advertising and Integrated Brand Promotion, 4th Edition," has been adopted by 500 universities in the U.S., Canada, Australia and Europe. A consultant to both small organizations
and multi-national corporations, Semenik’s clients include: IBM, SFX Entertainment, Ethos Marketing Research, FreeChart.com, Premier Resorts, Harris & Love Advertising, the Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam), the Breakers Resort, InfoGears, PrintingForLess.com and LigoCyte Pharmaceuticals in Montana.

The Montana Ambassadors are a statewide organization of leaders in business and education committed to living and working in Montana. Members are appointed by the governor.

Bozeman men win ambassadors’ awards

Two Bozeman men’s work in entrepreneurship has earned them the recognition of the Montana Ambassadors.

The organization has named Montana State University’s College of Business Dean Richard Semenik the educator of the year. Bozeman businessman Don Cape, who developed the local Hilton Garden Inn and Old Chicago restaurant, is the group’s entrepreneur of the year.
