‘Suitcase museum’ traveling Montana to educate students about art

East Middle School students peered at an image of Chief Rocky Boy, his wrinkles running deep and the corners of his eyes turning down.

"What story do you see in his eyes?" Marilyn Cron asked her students Thursday.

She asked them to write in their journals the story his face told, and they leaned over their desks and wrote, then erased and wrote again.

The image — a transparency of a painting by Chippewa Cree artist John Well-Off-Man — is part of a "suitcase museum" packed by Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art and sponsored by Stockman Bank.
