Treasure Valley leaders in Idaho envision 5,000 new high-paying positions
Treasure Valley business leaders are making good progress toward their goal of raising $5 million to fund a five-year program that hopes to bring 5,000 new jobs to the area.
The Valley Initiative for Prosperity http://www.bvep.org/ , a collection of business, government and non-profit groups, had raised 78 percent of its goal as of last week, with additional commitments pending, said campaign director Morgan O’Brien.
VIP was created to help attract 5,000 new jobs to the area that pay about $35,000 a year. The new jobs are projected to add another 6,000 service industry jobs paying an average of $10 an hour, for a total annual payroll of $300 million.
