Save the Date! MNA Fifth Annual Conference September 25-27 in Helena. The conference is eight months off, but details are in the works. We’ll keep you posted as the schedule unfolds and vendors commit. In the meantime, mark your calendars and plan to come to the Queen City of the Rockies in late September. top

PERI Free Online Courses – The Public Entity Risk Institute (PERI) is a non-profit organization established to advance the practice of risk management in local governments and small private and non-profit entities. PERI has developed a training site as a service to its constituents, to disseminate a broad range of useful, practical risk management information as widely and inexpensively as possible. Accountability Tools – “Can Nonprofits Learn From Sarbanes-Oxley?” The Montana Community Foundation has developed a short accountability publication that everyone in the nonprofit sector should download, read and distribute to their boards. You can find the publication as a PDF on our site. As an additional resource, MNA Executive Director Brian Magee has written an article that was recently published in Western Business News entitled, “Can Nonprofits Learn from Sarbanes-Oxley?” Learn more. top

Grant applications for Montana Fund for Tolerance due Feb 28th – The Montana Fund for Tolerance is accepting grant proposals for projects that address negative attitudes toward those who are different; however "different" is defined. The focus this year is on Middle and High School-aged youth. Grants range between $2,000 and $5,000. Seminar – Great Falls – Grantsmanship Training Program April 3-7. The Girl Scouts of the Big Sky Council, Golden Triangle Mental Health Center Foundation and Benefis Health Care Foundation are collaborating to bring the Grantsmanship Training Program to Great Falls. Tuition for this top-tier event is $825 and a limited number of half-price scholarships are available. Enrollment is limited to 30 participants. Seminar Missoula – Public Relations and Media – February 21, 11:30 am-1 pm. Location: Dean’s Conference Room, College of Technology, 909 South Avenue West Presented by Pam Voth. Workshops are free for members of the Missoula Nonprofit Network and $10 per organization for non-members. Workshop: Great Falls/Billings – Fundraising and Grantwriting Fundamentals – Commonweal Consulting of Bozeman presents two 2-day workshops. The Great Falls Workshop will be hosted by Voices of Hope on February 27 and 28 from 9:00am to 4:00pm at 915 First Ave. South. The Billings workshop will be hosted by Yellowstone Aids Project and held on March 6 and 7 at 2906 1st Ave South. Cost is $100 per day or $150 if you sign up in advance for both days. Web Site of the Month: Google.com – Google Grants provides eligible organizations with in-kind keyword advertising using Google AdWords so you can connect directly with your target audience. Through simple, short text ads that run on Google.com, thousands (or even millions) of people can learn about your organization online as they are searching for related information. When someone enters keywords (short phrases specifying a particular search query) into Google.com, ads targeted to those keywords appear alongside the search results. Learn more. top

Featured Member: Bear Paw Development Corporation. Bear Paw Development Corporation is a private, non-profit organization created for the purpose of helping to improve regional economic conditions in Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau and Phillips Counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy Indian Reservations. Bear Paw works toward this goal by coordinating economic development planning and project implementation services for its local government member entities. BPDC assists with planning and financing public works improvements; provides small business counseling and training opportunities for entrepreneurs; finances business start-ups and expansions through a significant revolving loan fund and works toward increasing value-added opportunities for agricultural producers.
