Boise plans Lewis and Clark party

Boise’s 10 days of Lewis and Clark events in May will be one of the last two Lewis and Clark Bicentennial events held in Idaho. The other is "Summer of Peace: Among the Nimiipuu," which will occur in May and June in North Idaho. Hosted by the Nez Perce Tribe, it commemorates the time of peace and friendship that the Lewis and Clark party enjoyed in Nez Perce country in 1806. It will be Idaho’s only national signature event of the bicentennial.

The eyes of the Lewis and Clark world will focus on Boise this spring.

"Boise is one of the largest metropolitan areas the Corps of Discovery II will visit during the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial," Jeff Olson of the National Park Service said Monday at a news conference to promote 10 days of Lewis and Clark Boise events planned for May. "We’re expecting hundreds of thousands of people here."
