Sporting goods giant Cabela’s coming to Boise

Outdoor enthusiasts rejoice! Cabela’s is coming to Boise.

Cabela’s, the giant outdoor recreation store and tourist attraction, announced it is opening a 132,000-square-foot store in Boise in summer 2006 — its first store in Idaho.

The store, which sells hunting, fishing and other outdoor gear and has a variety of outdoors exhibits, plans to remodel the old Costco building located in the shopping center on Franklin Road just west of Milwaukee near the I-184 and I-84 junction.

Idaho leaders touted the opening of Cabela’s as a great opportunity to draw tourists and other businesses to Boise.
