Dream jobs. Vocation Vacations lets clients who are burned out on their careers "test-drive" new ones

Chris Macey always wanted to leave the dog-eat-dog corporate world to pursue his life-long passion: a career involving animals. But instead of crafting a business plan and drumming up money from investors, Macey took a vacation.

A 36-year-old Denver native, Macey last spring spent three days, and nearly $1,000, to participate in a doggie day-care program offered by Vocation Vacations http://vocationvacations.com/ , a Portland, Ore., company that lets people "test-drive" their dream jobs.

Macey said the instruction was worth the price tag and travel costs.

"If it weren’t for the program, I’d be fumbling around in the dark trying to start this business," he said. "It’s there to help people change careers."
