Montana State University President Geoff Gamble to hire expert to look into students’ concerns with research costs

Montana State University President Geoff Gamble says he believes MSU’s $98 million-a-year research effort is a great benefit to students, but he will hire an outside expert to look into students’ concerns that it’s behind skyrocketing tuition.

Gamble told the Board of Regents on Thursday that his office will soon send out requests for proposals from consultants. MSU may need to streamline its practices or improve its communications, he said.

"We are a research university," Gamble said, that is unique in placing a high priority on both research and teaching.
